Merneptah is listed in the king list under ‘19th Dynasty’ and so belongs to this period: New Kingdom (c. 1550–1070 BC). Reign: 1213–1204 (1213–1203) BC. The figures in brackets give the alternative dating by the Egyptologist Jürgen von Beckerath. The throne name is Ba-en-Re-meri-Amun.
What is known about Merneptah
Merneptah successfully repelled attacks by the Libyans and the Sea Peoples. A people called Israel was mentioned for the first time under his rule.

Egypt becomes a great power with a sphere of influence stretching from Sudan to Syria. The vast temples of Karnak and Luxor and the tombs in the Valley of the Kings date from this period.
