Ramesses IV is listed in the king list under ‘20th Dynasty’ and so belongs to this period: New Kingdom (c. 1550–1070 BC). Reign: 1156–1150 (1152/51–1145/44) BC. The figures in brackets give the alternative dating by the Egyptologist Jürgen von Beckerath. The throne name is User-maat-Re-setep-en-Amun Heqa-maat-Re-setep-en-Amun.
What is known about Ramesses IV
Second throne name from the 2nd regnal year onwards. He prevailed against the conspirators who had murdered his father. The trial against them is recorded in several papyri.

The period: New Kingdom
Egypt becomes a great power with a sphere of influence stretching from Sudan to Syria. The vast temples of Karnak and Luxor and the tombs in the Valley of the Kings date from this period.
