Came to the throne at about nine years old and died young — his almost intact tomb made him world-famous.

On 4 November 1922 the British archaeologist Howard Carter, funded by Lord Carnarvon, discovered the entrance to Tutankhamun’s tomb (KV62) in the Valley of the Kings. The undamaged door seals showed that the tomb had not been plundered. The rich grave goods, including the famous golden funerary mask, are regarded as one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of all time.

What is known about Tutankhamun

Tutankhamun became famous above all for his tomb. He moved the residence from Amarna to Memphis and restored the old religion. His early death has given rise to much speculation to this day.
